INSTAGYM
Instagym
Stoke Newington
Layrd Design completed the interior design, project management and FF&E for Instagym, a brand-new fitness facility in Stoke Newington, in February 2024.
We worked with our client's brief to create an industrial, clean and 'Instagrammable' gym space with an upmarket feel reflective of the local community. As Instagym is a new independent gym, we needed to create a functional space that appeals to and attracts new members. Instagym is split across two floors with a neutral, wellness-inspired ground floor and a dark and moody basement. The space is impactful, with black, green and navy tones alongside wood finishes throughout.
Instagym has plenty of focal points across its two floors where gym visitors can take mirror selfies. Studio spaces are divided from the main gym floor, and there is a social zone in the basement with a smoothie bar and seating so people can socialise pre or post-workout. PTs can also use this as an informal meeting space with clients or the team.

IMMERSIVE LIGHTING
The gym has premium Technogym equipment offering both cardio and resistance machines on the ground floor and a fully-equipped spin studio. The basement houses free weights, plate-loaded equipment, a functional zone, and a recovery area, catering to diverse training styles.
Instagym's spin studio has immersive lighting supplied by LED Snaps with a system that responds to and aligns with the BPM of class music. Bespoke planting by Leaflike creates a coherent natural feeling throughout the space, with moss patterns on the walls and biophilic branding.
“I highly recommend working with Gina. She was an instrumental part of the team in creating the Instagym design and success that our members continue to experience whilst using the gym facilities."
- Moti Friedlander, Director at Instagym
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
We've included a cork wall in this design, which regenerates itself so is a renewable material. Cork also has acoustic properties, which help absorb sound from the gym without disrupting the surrounding spaces.
We used water based paints from Little Greene Paint throughout the space with almost no VOC content. Little Green Paint's eco-friendly range is virtually odorless and has limited solvent contributions to the atmosphere.
