The Ipswich Town Press Conference Room was completed by Layrd Design in the six-week pre-season period ahead of the club's first Premier League match in collaboration with GS Contracts. We were briefed to create a state-of-the-art facility with AV and tech integration to meet league requirements for seamless use on match day.

Subsequent to the promotion, the club's external image needed to be modified to stand out among its new competitors. The press conference room was converted from underused offices into a modern media room that represents the club's identity to the world's press. Layrd ensured the new space was consistent with Ipswich Town's corporate identity while making a statement with sleek, carefully considered details.

We created an intriguing atmosphere, framing the space with a dark ceiling, dark carpet and bespoke geometric wall panels by Synergy Creativ for acoustic treatment. We also worked on highly bespoke wall panelling, with engraved artwork reflecting an abstract take on the Portman Road Stadium architecture. Ipswich Town’s branding has been fully integrated, down to the last stitch, with 75 custom embroidered fixed theatre seats. The podium and media desk are the stand-out features, with high-tech lighting and club crest ensuring a clear and bold look on camera.

PROJECT TEAM

“When given the brief, the club summed up this space perfectly. This is what the world sees of the club. This is where the cameras are. With Ipswich Town entering the premier league for the first time in 22 years, this space needed to represent this new era and its success. This space needed to be state-of-the-art. It’s now a modern and innovative space which reflects the club and its values.”

Head of Stadia Design

“Ipswich Town were keen to enter back into the new season in a way that really showed pride in the journey they have taken, and their spaces needed to reflect that. The media room is a vital part of every club, as a way to represent themselves to their fans, journalists and the world, and this new space gives the ultimate impression.

Bold lighting, clever branding and attention to the finer details such as bespoke acoustic panelling bring the space together, leaving every user with a sense of anticipation and pride.”
