Future Spaces: Shaping Tomorrow's Design

Thank you to everyone involved at Future Spaces 2024! We loved getting to speak to everyone about their interpretation of the future of design and interiors while learning from some of the industry leaders about how our spaces shape us, inclusive design, decarbonising and so much more. Curious about what's next? Future Spaces 2025 is already in the works!

Expanding Our Material Knowledge at Material Matters

Our design team visited Material Matters this month to continue their research into the sustainable innovations shaping their work. We're always staying up to date with manufacturers and brands who are changing the industry and love getting to hear from newer voices with game-changing approaches to material use. We'd recommend looking into Sofia Hagen, Rootfull, Studio ARP and MushLume Lighting (pictured above) who are all using grown materials to design new things.

The Meaning of Layrd?

Something we're constantly asked is how to pronounce Layrd. Layrd (Layered) comes from the process of designing an interior space. Every interior consists of layers of materials, textures, colours and furnishings. The concept of layers is central to our philosophy at Layrd Design. On our website, you can read more on the concept of layers in interior design, and why they're important to us.

Sustainability Award Win at The SME Awards

We're excited to have won the Gold Sustainability Award this month at the Cambridgeshire SME Awards. The Sustainability Award is all about removing the harmful impact that products and services have on the environment. We're thrilled to be recognised for our commitment to responsible, forward-thinking design can't wait as we're through to the National Finals.

What's On at Sketch & Social

We're hosting two spooky sketching meetups this month, where our sketchers will get hands-on with pumpkin painting (or drawing). While our events are free, we ask sketchers to bring their art supplies and their own pumpkins. To keep things tidy, we're providing sheets for painting and requesting attendees only use small pumpkins.
